Zolen Georgievska

Zolen Georgievska, a Member of the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada, is a veteran journalist, reporter, and event photographer with a vast expertise in the arts, music, film, event management, fundraising and coordination. Over the years, she has covered numerous festivals and cultural events as a photo-journalist, portrait photographer, and reporter for such publications as Snapd Down Town Toronto, Canadian - Macedonian News, Mi Magazine, San Serbian Canadian Magazine, and European Club News, among many others. As a television producer at Rogers Communications, she produced programs such as The Scene, Diverse City and Eyes on York - programming segments primarily involving arts and culture, hosting field and studio live interviews and shows.

Zolen has participated as a media journalist and event photographer in art exhibitions, musical, theatrical and philanthropic events held at various internationally-renowned venues, including among others the Isabel Bader Theatre, Mallet Theatre, Sony Centre for the Arts, Toronto City Hall, Metro Hall, Walter Hall & Hart House at University of Toronto, OCAD, Queen’s Park, Charles Pachter Museum, Women’s Art Association of Canada, Alliance Française, AGO, ROM, Lula Lounge, Phoenix Centre, etc. She organized the
collective art exhibition at the Serbian Heritage Academy of Canada and exhibited her art work in the group art show “Camera Obscura Serbica”, part of the CONTACT Photography Festival (2019).

For several years, Zolen has been organizing and curating Live and Silent ART auctions to benefit charity annual fundraisers. She has also facilitated entry-level photography workshops and hosted YOUTH Photography Club for Native Youth at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto (2022). As an event photographer, Zolen has covered various Toronto Festivals such as Kensington Market, Jazz Festival, Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival, Italian Contemporary Film Festival, Ontario Creates, Toronto Serbian Film Festival, Macedonian Film Festival, Canadian International Fashion Film Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Zolen is also a children’s healthcare advocate. She is the President of Canadians for Children at Health Risk founded in 1995 by late Prof Dr. Nikola Georgievski, a great humanitarian born in Skopje, Macedonia. Zolen continued the legacy of her father, organizing events and programs dedicated to improving the well-being and quality of life of families with children and youth, by providing guidance, education and assistance to prevent, treat and research diseases locally and abroad.

After the breakup of the former Yugoslavia, Zolen moved to Canada (1994) and ever since has stayed committed to promoting peace and well-being through her articles, art photographs and charitable volunteer activities. In an extension of her generosity and multi-faceted talents, Zolen brings both her advocacy and communications skills to her role as Communications Director of the International Peace Festival, focusing on the values of peace, health, and culture diplomacy.
