É com grande honra que o Festival Internacional da Paz | O Comitê de Prêmios do Festival International de la Paix anuncia o ganhador do Prêmio pelo conjunto de sua obra 2022-2023 na Arte da Fotografia, a ser conferido ao fotógrafo de belas artes Dmitry Savchenko no IPF | Cerimônia de premiação FIP a ser realizada em Toronto, Canadá, em 25 de setembro de 2022. O Sr. Savchenko se tornou um dos principais cronistas da arte do balé, desenvolvendo um estilo dramaticamente expressionista que captura a elegância, o espírito e a habilidade de seu assuntos graciosos. Ao mesmo tempo um deleite visual e um estudo do movimento, o Sr. Savchenko pretende transmitir o balé como uma forma de arte e personificação da aprendizagem não-verbal e capturar a dança para criar momentos de emoção. Ao longo de sua ilustre carreira, o trabalho do Sr. Savchenko foi exibido nos principais teatros do mundo, como Metropolitan Opera (Nova York), Opera National de Paris, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Massimo (Palermo, Itália), Teatro Bolshoi da Rússia, Teatro Mariinsky, bem como para fins de campanhas comerciais de outras instituições teatrais administrativas e promoções na indústria do balé. O Sr. Savchenko conseguiu criar até hoje uma coleção única de retratos dos principais mestres do palco mundial no domínio da ópera e do balé. De 2006 até o presente, o trabalho de Dmitry Savchenko foi tema de 33 grandes exposições internacionais em todo o mundo, dedicadas às lendas do balé mundial. No entanto, embora seja amplamente utilizada a nível popular, a dança geralmente permanece fora do catálogo padrão de práticas de resolução de conflitos e de construção da paz. Nos níveis micro da construção da paz, a mudança começa com a mudança da visão do mundo e dos espaços de um indivíduo para encontrar novas metáforas de compreensão. A construção da paz requer diversas ferramentas para abordar relações complexas e depende da capacidade de ver novas perspetivas e construir interações. As artes performativas são um aspecto de uma abordagem ascendente de construção da paz que proporciona múltiplas formas de interacção e a dança é um trunfo potencial para o campo da construção da paz, criando oportunidades para a aprendizagem corporal e não-verbal e relações com o “outro”. Como linguagem simbólica comunicada através do corpo, a dança é uma ferramenta para apoiar os construtores da paz e as comunidades em conflito a desenvolverem o alcance da sua comunicação e compreensão. The International Peace Festival | Festival International de la Paix Awards Committee is privileged and honoured to announce that Edward Burtynsky, one of the world's most accomplished contemporary photographers, will be conferred the 2022-2023 Honorary Artistic Award at the IPF | FIP Awards Ceremony to be held in Toronto, Canada, on September 25, 2022. Mr. Burtynsky, a world-renowned photographic artist, known for his sweeping images of industrial projects and their effects on the environment, is perhaps the greatest chronicler alive of the injuries that humans have inflicted on the planet. For more than four decades, he has been documenting colossal mines, quarries, dams, roadways, factories, and trash piles—telling a story, frame by frame, of the lasting impact of human industry on the planet and the geological and biological cost of civilization. Mr. Burtynsky's photographs are included in the collections of over 60 major museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the Tate Modern in London, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in California. As an active lecturer on photographic art, Mr. Burtynsky's speaking engagements have been held at numerous international galleries and centers, including but not limited to the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.; George Eastman House in Rochester, NY; The Canadian Center for Architecture in Montreal; the Art Gallery of Ontario, the TED conference; and Idea City and Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in Toronto. Exhibitions include the world premiere of Mr. Burtynsky’s multimedia art piece, In the Wake of Progress (2022) at the Luminato Festival and the Canadian Opera Company Theatre in Toronto, Canada; Anthropocene (2018) at the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Gallery of Canada (international touring exhibition); Water (2013) at the New Orleans Museum of Art & Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans, Louisiana (international touring exhibition); Oil (2009) at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. (five-year international touring show), China (toured 2005 - 2008); Manufactured Landscapes at the National Gallery of Canada (touring from 2003 - 2005); and Breaking Ground produced by the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography (touring from 1988 - 1992). Mr. Burtynsky’s distinctions include the TED Prize, the Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts, the Outreach award at the Rencontres d’Arles, the Roloff Beny Book award, and the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award. In 2006 he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Canada and in 2008 he was awarded the ICP Infinity Award for Art. In 2018 he was named Photo London's Master of Photography and the Mosaic Institute's Peace Patron. In 2019 he was the recipient of the Arts & Letters Award at the Canadian Association of New York’s annual Maple Leaf Ball and the 2019 Lucie Award for Achievement in Documentary Photography. Most recently he was awarded a Royal Photographic Society Honorary Fellowship (2020) and was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award (2022) by the World Photography Organization. He was also a key production figure in the award-winning documentary trilogy, Jennifer Baichwal's Manufactured Landscapes (2006), Watermark (2013) and ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch (2018), the latter two of which he codirected alongside Baichwal. All three films continue to play in festivals around the world. He currently holds eight honorary doctorate degrees. The IPF | FIP Honorary Artistic Award recognizes the specific nature of cultural and artistic work and the uniqueness of cultural and natural heritage conservation, protection and promotion as a critical contributor to peace. The award honours Mr. Burtynksy whose exceptional artistic achievements, celebrate humanity, provoke the imagination, and encourage people to go further, by giving a new thrust in the regulation of unsafe social, economic and ecological practices, focusing on the development of more resilient conservation models and wide-spread approaches that balance the needs of human and natural habitats. Mr. Burtynsky’s beautiful-yet-haunting imagery of industrial landscapes documents the scars of a ravaged earth and immerses viewers in the inconceivable impact that humans have had on the planet. It challenges us to have an important conversation about our legacy and the future implications of sustainable life on Earth. Mr. Burtynsky’s work is powerful and emotionally moving and makes us think about the footprint we are leaving behind, and the urgency to take action. We can think of no more outstanding contribution to the promotion of a culture of peace than that. Mr. Burtynsky, you have shown us through common values, such as respect, equity, harmony, and concrete manifestations of solidarity, that the future of civilization is bright.
